artwork by my kids

Although I can sew and crochet, I can’t draw.  But it seems to me that my children can!  Although I could have my mummy blinkers on.  Here’s one of Clare’s latest artworks.  She is in the process of earning her “Nature” badge at Brownies, and decided to photograph some lemons – since they are part of nature – then draw them in pastels. So here we have the original photo:

Final pastel artwork by Clare, almost 9 yrs

Not bad for an almost nine year old! And at four and a half, Stella is developing her own artistic flair:

I’ll be back again some time tomorrow to announce the winner of my giveaway!

  1. The lemons are really great. Pastels are a wonderful medium and can be quite tricky.

    Well done, girls,
    Lee x

  2. Great work girls, I especially love those lemons

  3. Lucky Clare gets to be a Brownie, I always wanted to be a Brownie. That will be one well deserved nature badge. I love pastels. And Stella’s picture looks like it’s got some complex themes going on there!

  4. Those lemons look great, I’m very impressed. Liam is 4 and a bit and I see lots of the art-work from the other kids at his kinder, and I think Stella’s drawing is quite advanced for a four and a half year old too.

  5. The shading on those lemons is actually quite good. I’m particularly impressed with the fact that she picked upon the color reflection, the green on the lemons from the green leaves, the yellow on the branch from the lemons, it’s very well done. You should enroll those little lady in some art classes! :)

  6. Well done girls. I can see the talent shining though.

  7. Clare has fantastic colour perception. I can draw, but only tonally. She’s really got a gift.

  8. Wow that’s fantastic Lara – I don’t think your view is jaded at all – she’s done a fantastic job – and I love Stella’s too – that book is one of my favourites.
