Lavender Tunic

See what you can do with 2.5 balls of Patons Smoothie DK and a few crochet hooks and a pattern? Make a child’s tunic!

Lavender Tunic

The pattern is the Pretty Pastel Tunic by Nicki Trench, from Inside Crochet Issue 7, April/May 2010.  It’s such a pretty design, but be warned if you are planning on making it that there are quite a few errors in the pattern and you need to check all the comments on the  Ravelry Project Page before you start (as well as the Ravelry forums).

I spent ages trying to decide what buttons and ribbon to use, and after trying out a few options I returned to one of the first combinations. It’s not perfect but it’s okay – I was trying to use what I had in stash and didn’t want to go out and buy anything new.

As usual, I pulled out five or six rows of the skirt when I realised that I’d somehow missed out one row of the repeat. I always have to do some unpulling and re-doing when I crochet something! It’s all worked out in the end though.

She’s wearing it!  And YES we finally have a government!

  1. The ribbon is really beautiful, as is the dress, but I really love the ribbon.

  2. A lovely job Lara – super sweet x

  3. Well done Lara! Well done Stella! WELL DONE JULIA!!!

I always have to rip out major parts of my projects too. I think it comes from not concentrating enough, and enjoying the process more than the product!

  4. Very Sweet…and so is the little one in it!

  5. Oh Lara, it is so cute! And so little yarn to make it. I love the ribbon you have used and she looks pretty pleased that she has a Mummy so clever!!!

  6. Beautiful I love it. I’m waiting to see if my second grandchild is a girl there are so many cute projects you’ve given me ideas for.

  7. I see you have a purple girly (or two) on your hands as well. SO impressed with the 2.5 balls thing to boot.
