Barrel Purse

Here’s my test sewing version of Nikki’s latest pattern, the barrel purse.

Barrel purse - front by you.

How cute is this little purse!  It took me around 2 hours to make all up, reading the instructions very carefully as I went along (I take my pattern tester responsibilities very seriously).  That includes the time taken to cut out the pattern, fuse the interfacings, cut them out, pressing, and attaching the frame.  I think that with practice this could probably be made in around an hour – am I right there Nikki?  Here’s the inside:

Barrel Purse - open by you.

It’s a little purse, just the right size for change.  Fits nicely into the palm of your hand.  I used Kaffe Fassett fabrics throughout.

Barrel purse - side by you.

I like absolutely everything about this pattern.  Lots of clever construction tips and detailed instructions that ensured everything came together just right.  When I make more they’ll be even better than this one!  The pattern should be for sale soon over  here.  Thanks Nikki for including me as a tester yet again!  You know I love it.

I love it too – I’ll be looking out for the pattern. I’ve been looking forward to doing one of Nikki’s patterns for a while now. It is about time.
    Well done super tester.

I love the fabric combo that you used…. and I’m very envious of how quickly you whipped it up!

Thanks again, Lara – you know that your keen eye and detailed feedback are the reasons for me hurling so many patterns at you.

You’re right about the practise makes quick-purse-making. I made 4 larger, more structured ones yesterday and they took me about an hour each. (Oops, I think I’ve just given away what my next pattern is!)

It looks fabulous Lara (& faultless). No surprises given pattern maker & tester.
    xx

  7. Fantastic Lara – Can’t wait to get that pattern! – I did have a bit of trouble with the puff purse – it is still in bits – nothing to do with Nikki’s instructions – just a lot to do with my sewing!
